May 21st is declared a Day of Solidarity with Political Prisoners in Belarus. At the moment, there are almost one and a half thousand political prisoners in the country.
We would like to remind you that we have launched the #saythankstoattorney campaign lasting until May 20, 2024. As part of this project, we encourage you to send us your warm stories about how an attorney helped you, your kind words to your defense counsel in criminal and administrative cases, as well as if you were a relative of a detainee and you would like to thank a specific defender.
It could be a story of support, it could be a story of assistance in realizing the wrongfulness of what is happening when everyone around is turning a person into a criminal, it could simply be conversations that helped you to be alive. Please keep in mind that attorneys are under threat of repression just like their clients, so we urge you to refrain from using names of both clients and defenders, as well as personal details, unless you are absolutely sure that the attorney is safe.
