Lawyer Anastasia Lazarenko sentenced to 6 years in prison

On May 11, the Minsk City Court sentenced Anastasia Lazarenko, a politically imprisoned lawyer, to six years in a general regime prison. Judge Svetlana Cherepanova announced the verdict.

The political prisoner was found guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code for “leaking data from law enforcement officers and judges to the "Black Book of Belarus"”, as well as for participating in the “Freedom March” in August 2020. Lazarenko pleaded not guilty at the trial.

She has an elderly father and a 19-year-old son suffering from Crohn's disease since the age of 16.
