A year ago, in April 2023, the Belarusian Association of Human Rights Lawyers was established. It has recently come to light that on April 19, 2024 the materials from the Association's Telegram channel were labeled as “extremist” by the decision of the court in the Central District of Minsk.
"Considering that our channel's inaugural post dates back to April 19, 2023, we view this decision as a 'gift' for our anniversary, a recognition of the demand, importance, and visibility of our activities. We are unaware of the grounds on which the court reached this decision. However, the latter clearly violates the right to freedom of expression and the freedom of association… This will not impact our work in any way; however, we kindly ask our subscribers from Belarus to unfollow our channel, refrain from liking our posts, and avoid forwarding them," commented the administrators of the Telegram channel.
