The mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur on Belarus has been extended for an additional year

During the 53rd session of the UN Human Rights Council, a resolution concerning the human rights situation in Belarus was deliberated and voted upon.

The resolution prolongs the mandate of Anaïs Marin, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Belarus, for one more year. It also urges the authorities to engage with her, resume dialogue, and grant her access to visit Belarus and communicate with relevant individuals in the government and civil society.

Bolivia, China, Cuba, Eritrea, Kazakhstan, Vietnam voted against the resolution.
