Attorney Anastasia Lazarenko’s trial is to begin on May 2

As became known to human rights activists, attorney Anastasia Lazarenko will be put on trial on 2 May. We remind that she was detained on June 2, two days after her 40th birthday. First, a criminal case was initiated against her under Part 3 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code for "communicating data of law enforcement agents and judges to Telegram channels." Later she was also accused under Art. 203-1 of the Criminal Code (illegal actions with information concerning private life) and Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code (organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order). According to the investigation, the attorney allegedly organized an "unauthorized mass event" when she consulted individuals near the Okrestina temporary detention center in August 2020.

Anastasia has an elderly father and a 19-year-old son who has been suffering from Crohn's disease since he was 16 years old. The trial over the attorney will start on 2 May in Minsk City Court. The case will be considered by Judge Sviatlana Chiarapanava.
