The Date for the Appeal Trial of Human Rights Defender Nasta Loika Has Been Announced

The date for the appeal hearing of human rights defender Nasta Loika became known. The original verdict to be appealed was handed down by the Minsk City Court on June 20. Nasta Loika was sentenced to 7 years in prison for preparing a report titled "Persecution of anarchists, anti-fascists, leftists and social activists in Belarus" (covering the period from 2017 to August 2018). The report provided a “critical assessment” of law enforcement officers actions.

Since the trial was held behind closed doors, the details and Nasta's own standpoint remain undisclosed. The Supreme Court is scheduled to review Nasta's appeal on October 3.
